Anand Dham

Anand Dham is a very sacred place for Jain devotees of Ahmednagar city. It is home to the Samadhi of renowned Jain Saint Rastra Sant Acharya Anandrishiji Maharaj. During his lifetime he was considered to be one of the most prominent Jain saints of Ahmednagar district.
It was at this place that last rites of Acharya Anandrishiji were performed after he passed away on 28th March 1992. The place gets its name from the first name of Anandrishiji, i.e. ‘Anand’ and hence it is called Anand Dham.
A popular Jain pilgrimage center in India, Anand Dham is the resting ground of Shri Anand Rishiji Maharaj, a Jain religious leader. His teachings were deep rooted in love, non- violence & tolerance. He was proficient in nine languages & wrote extensively in Marathi and Hindi.
He was born at a place called Shiral Chichondi and acquired spiritual knowledge and teachings from Shri Ratan Rishiji Maharaj at a nubile age of thirteen.
Shri Anand Maharaj set up a host of educational and religious institutions in the city of Ahmednagar with the purpose of uplifting the society. He followed the path of love, tolerance and righteousness and helped the ailing and the wounded.

On a visit to the museum, tourists get enlightened about the universal teachings of Anand Rishiji.
